WHAT WILL YOU LEARN IN THE COURSE?
The Ice Diver PSAI course develops the skills required to safely conduct ice dives.
During the training, you will learn:
- dive site organisation and preparation
- the principles of ice dive planning
- the safety procedures used during ice dives
- the use of the safety line
- communication between the diver and the surface support team
- how to respond to a regulator freeze-up
- procedures for the loss of the safety line
- procedures for responding to an ice break-through
- the organisation of a search for a dive team beneath the ice
- cooperation between the dive team and the surface support team
The aim of the course is to prepare divers to safely plan and conduct ice dives in accordance with PSAI standards.
COURSE INFORMATION

- Open Water Sport Diver PSAI or an equivalent certification.
- Health requirements: A health condition that allows participation in the course
- Course duration: Minimum 2 days
- Theory: Ice dive planning, dive site preparation, safety procedures, team organisation, and emergency response.
- Practical training: Dive site preparation, ice dives, safety line exercises, and emergency scenario simulations.
- Emergency procedures: Regulator freeze-up, loss of the safety line, ice break-through, and searching for a diver under the ice.
