BASIC OPEN WATER SIDEMOUNT DIVER
The PSAI Basic Sidemount course at the Open Water level aims to teach proper handling of two cylinders in a sidemount configuration when diving in open water. The course will cover equipment configuration, its components, their proper maintenance, as well as procedures and techniques characteristic of the sidemount configuration.
EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS:
- Two first stages, one of which is equipped with a 2 m hose
- 2 pressure gauges
- Suitable exposure suit for the diving conditions (a dry suit is highly recommended)
- Depth and Time Measuring Device
PREREQUISITES:
Each candidate must hold Open Water Diver certification and have a minimum of 30 logged dives. Participants must have current medical examinations.
IMPORTANT
With the consent of the PSAI Open Water Sidemount Instructor, the participant may simultaneously participate in this course and the Open Water Sport Diver course (i.e., with the Instructor's consent, the participant may attend a basic course in the sidemount configuration).

COURSE DURATION:
- Minimum 60 minutes of pool training or training in pool-like confined water conditions.
- Minimum 3 open water dives to a maximum depth corresponding to the candidate’s certification level, with a minimum total bottom time of 75 minutes.
