RAPID PROGRAM DIVER PSAI (RESCUE, ACCIDENT PREVENTION & INTERVENTION DIVER PSAI)
CPR FIRST AID COURSE
This course teaches first aid and cardio-pulmonary resuscitation
Upon completion of this course, the graduate will be able to:
• recognize and assess the situation and condition of victims
• perform appropriate resuscitation procedures
• secure the injured and the accident scene
WHY IT'S WORTH COMPLETING A FIRST AID COURSE?
• because in the event of an accident, we may be able to provide first aid and possibly save someone's life.
NOTE! A refresher course is required every 2 years
PRE-REQUISITES:
• minimum age of 15 years
• possession of Basic or Youth Diver certification
• completion of the required documents
COURSE DURATION:
• the course duration depends on the participants' level of skills and lasts a minimum of 4 hours.
REQUIRED TOPIC AREAS:
1. Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation
a) Definition of cardio-pulmonary resuscitation
b) Assessment of the situation and victim's condition
c) performing resuscitation:
• no breathing - artificial respiration
• no circulation - indirect heart massage and artificial respiration
d) duration of resuscitation procedures
e) securely securing the injured person and the accident scene
f) notification of the appropriate services
g) transport
2. First Aid
a) definition of first aid
b) principles of first aid
c) simulated procedures for the following accidents:
• bone fractures
• bleeding
• burns
• blunt injuries
• bites
• electric shock
d) securely securing the injured person and the accident scene
e) notification of the appropriate services
f) transport
3. Legal Frameworks
REQUIRED EXERCISES TO PASS THE COURSE:
• performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation on a mannequin
• conducting simulated first aid activities in emergencies
• recognizing and mastering a simulated emergency situation
QUALIFICATIONS UPON COURSE COMPLETION:
Upon successful completion of the course, the graduate receives an international certificate entitling them to provide first aid in emergencies.
RESCUE DIVER
The aim of the course is to acquire the skills to provide assistance in case of life-threatening situations or diving accidents both underwater and on the surface.
WHY IT'S WORTH BECOMING A RESCUE DIVER?
• because witnessing a diving accident, we will be able to provide assistance, possibly saving someone's life
• additionally, after completing this course, we will be eligible to participate in the Leadership - Dive Guide course
PRELIMINARY REQUIREMENTS FOR CANDIDATES:
• minimum age of 15 years (parental consent required for those under 18 years of age)
• possession of ADVANCED OPEN WATER SPORT DIVER certification
• current medical examination
• completion of a minimum of 40 logged dives
COURSE DURATION:
• the course duration is a minimum of 10 hours, with at least half of the time spent in open water
THEORETICAL-PRACTICAL SESSIONS:
Upon completion of the course, participants should be able to: identify problems and provide assistance to a simulated diver experiencing breathing difficulties, exhaustion, leg cramps, or mild panic.
• locate and bring an "unconscious" diver to the surface from a depth of approximately 5 meters
• tow an "unconscious" diver approximately 50 m on the surface to the shore or boat
• upon reaching the shore or boat, remove the injured diver from the water
QUALIFICATIONS AFTER COMPLETING THE COURSE:
Successful completion of the course enables efficient and thorough rescue actions in the event of a diving accident and qualifies for:
• enrollment in the Leadership - Dive Guide course
