DEEP SPORT DIVER
The aim of the course is to provide adequate knowledge, equipment considerations, and dive planning to enable safe non-decompression diving to a maximum depth of 40m.
PREREQUISITES:
• minimum age of 18 years
• possession of the Advanced Open Water Diver PSAI SILVER (Level I - 30m)
• specialization in Twinset Diver or Sidemount Diver
EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS:
• properly configured twinset or sidemount setup
• appropriate drysuit for diving conditions (highly recommended
• dive computer
• dive light
• reel with surface marker buoy (SMB)
• slate and pencil or "wetnotes"
COURSE OUTLINE:
Theoretical sessions 3-4 hours:
• equipment considerations for Deep Sport Diving
• dive preparation and planning
• management of physiological risk factors
• execution of five phases of deep sport diving
• determination of non-decompression parameters
Practical sessions 4 dives:
• determining Respiratory Minute Volume (RMV) as a planning factor
• gas-sharing exercises with a partner (in various situational variations)
• rules and techniques for using the surface marker buoy (SMB)
• practice maintaining a proper ascent rate
• working on proper positioning and buoyancy during safety stops
• SMB handling
• working on consciousness zones during all phases of diving
• gas management
• conscious cooperation with a dive partner
QUALIFICATIONS UPON COURSE COMPLETION:
Upon completion of the course, you will receive certification to plan and conduct non-decompression dives to a maximum depth of 40m.
