OPEN WATER SPORT DIVER PSAI (OWSD) / BASIC COURSE
This course is designed for individuals wishing to embark on their diving adventure and learn the basics of safe diving.
Certifies divers to dive to a depth of up to 20 meters in open water worldwide. The PSAI organization offers a basic course with the highest maximum depth limit among all diving organizations.
REQUIREMENTS FOR CANDIDATES:
- Age 15 and over (parental or legal guardian consent is required for participants under 18 years of age) *
- After completing the Junior Diver course, the graduate obtains the same qualifications as those granted by the Basic Diver certification. However, these privileges may only be exercised under the supervision of parents, legal guardians, dive leaders/guides, or instructors.
COURSE DURATION:
- Theory Module
- Practical Module in Swimming Pool or Pool-Like Conditions
- Practical Module in Open Water Conditions
THEORETICAL TRAINING:
minimum 15 hours (lecture duration is approximately 2.5 hours)
Topics include:
- History of Diving and Organizational Structure
- Diving Equipment
- Diving Environment and Diving Physics
- Diving Medicine
- Decompression Theory
- Diving Techniques
- Review of Examination Questions – Exam Preparation
- Examination
PRACTICAL TRAINING:
Consist of:
- Diving Sessions in Swimming Pool or Pool-Like Conditions
- Open Water Dives Including the Examination (each dive lasting a minimum of 20 minutes)
PRACTICAL EXAM:
- Conducted in open water – 4 dives, each lasting a minimum of 15 minutes.
CERTIFICATION:
Upon completion of the course, the participant receives an international certification that qualifies them to dive in open water to a depth of up to 20 meters anywhere in the world. The OWSD PSAI certification grants the graduate of the basic course the highest level of diving privileges among all entry-level certifications offered by diving organizations worldwide and provides the opportunity to continue training at more advanced diving levels.
