PSAI ASSISTANT INSTRUCTOR
This course is designed for individuals who wish to further develop their skills. Upon completion of this course, you can proceed to an instructor course, which also provides the opportunity to pursue a professional career in diving.
REQUIREMENTS FOR CANDIDATES:
- Over 18 years of age
- Holding an Advanced Open Water Sport Diver certification or an equivalent qualification.
- Possession of a Rescue Diver certification (Diving Rescue) and a valid First Aid/CPR qualification.
- A minimum of 100 logged dives completed after obtaining the Advanced Open Water Sport Diver certification.
- Possession of a valid medical certificate of fitness to dive
THEORETICAL TRAINING:
- Diving history within PSAI and other diving organizations.
- Duties of a Dive Leader – Dive Guide – Assistant Instructor
- Dive organization
- Emergency procedures
- Stress management
- Legal standards
- Examination
PRACTICAL POOL SESSIONS:
- Swimming Tests
- Donning mask, snorkel and fins underwater
- Donning SCUBA equipment underwater
- Breath-hold exercises using ABC and SCUBA equipment
- Emergency procedures
- Assisting the Instructor during training
PRACTICAL OPEN WATER SESSIONS:
- Equipment inspection
- Tauchbriefing
- Removing and Replacing the Weight Belt Underwater
- Buddy System Techniques
- Out-of-Air Procedures
- Rescue of an Unconscious Diver from the Bottom, Towing and First Aid
- Simulated Decompression Stop (5 m / 5 min)
EXAMINATION DIVES
Maximum Depth: 40 m
ASSISTANT INSTRUCTOR PRIVILEGES:
- May dive to a depth of 40 meters.
- May supervise and lead independent dives for certified divers in conditions that are consistent with the qualifications and experience of the respective Dive Leader.
- May assist an active PSAI Instructor during courses whose training content does not exceed the qualifications and skills held by the respective Dive Leader.
- May enroll in the Instructor Course.
